Rico and Lela were involved in a motorcycle accident on north bound US75 near the President George Bush HWY (190) exit at around 2:15am, September 18th, 2010.  They were heading home with friends (Scrape, Boo, Gonzo, Nikki, Bull and Wood), who were also riding.

At the same time, Unbeknownst to them, a white Mitsubishi pick up truck driven by Sterling Mitchell and a black Lexus driven by Michael Pyburn had been disputing in a Richardson bar.  This carried over to the highway where our friends were.  Sterling Mitchell decided to slow down and stop his vehicle in the middle of US75 to retaliate against Michael Pyburn. The bikers, who were riding behind them, veered to avoid the incident.  Rico and Scrape went right and Bull and Gonzo went left.  The Lexus, who could not stop in time to avoid hitting the white pick up, swerved right and directly into Rico's path which caused both Rico and Lela to be ejected from the bike at impact.
Lela was killed instantly and Rico passed a day later at Parkland Memorial Hospital.  They leave behind two daughters- Loran (14) and Lacey (6).

Our Friends were taken from us by this senseless act of Road Rage.  Rico and Lela were the glue that brought everyone they met together.  They are loved by many and will be missed immensely.  They are here with us all the time.  They live in us and we are going to carry their memory and what they stood for with us forever.

We have created Bikers Against Road Rage (BARR) because of this incident.  DBMC and BARR hope to raise awareness of this growing issue and also help others and their families through the unfortunate event and to help cope with the injustices bestowed upon them by the judicial system.
